Courses offered by the Institute

Presently, the Institute offers four types of courses:

  1. Technician Certificate in Clinical Medicine- NTA Level 5
  2. Ordinary Diploma in Clinical Medicine- NTA Level 6
  3. Technician Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences- NTA Level 5
  4. Ordinary Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences – NTA Level 6

 Entry qualifications

  1. Technician Certificate in Clinical Medicine- NTA Level 5
    1. Completed form 4 (Certificate in Secondary Education Examination /CSEE)
    2. A pass at “D” grade in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
    3. A pass in Mathematics and English is an added advantage
  2. Ordinary Diploma in Clinical Medicine- NTA Level -6
    1. Completed form 4
    2. A pass at “D” grade or above in Biology and chemistry and Physics
    3. An additional pass at “D” or above for any non-religious subject
    4. A pass in Mathematics and English is an added advantage
  3. Technician Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences- NTA Level 5
    1. Completed form 4
    2. A pass at “D” grade or above in Chemistry and Biology
    3. An additional pass at “D” for any non-religious subject

How to apply

  1. Through the Central Admission System done online on the NACTVETwebsite: nacte.go.tz  or  www.cas.go.tz.
  2. Online application to the Institute Institute’s website msongolainstitute.ac.tz. An application from is accessed by clicking “APPLY NOW”.  Fill the from then and click submit.

Course structure and content

The course structure and content for each of the courses offered is found in their respective course curricula. At the time of course commencement students will be given a curriculum for their respective course. It is important for the student to read the curriculum thoroughly to understand key issues like:

  • The total duration for each course
  • The subjects offered, training hours for each subject and subject coding
  • Categories for marks award
    • Continuous assessments
    • End of semester examinations
  • How GPA is calculated
  • Conditions for promotion to the next semester
